![]() If you still haven’t played the main game and want something new for your PlayStation 5, this could be the perfect time to see what your new hardware can do. If you’re a fan of Japanese RPGs in general or a fan of the Final Fantasy franchise, there’s a lot to love in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. You can equip his abilities and weapons that suit your play style, but it still isn’t anything like when you could control Barret, Tifa or Aerith in the main game. While you cannot control ‘Sonon’ he still is an effective party member as he does participate in battles quite a bit. I would have loved to control ‘Sonon’ but alas that was not the case. Unlike the base game where you could take control of any party member, here you are only restricted to play as the main protagonist. It is also worth pointing out that you can only play as Yuffie in the DLC. Her natural abilities are also fun to use which are quite effective at defeating bosses and key battles. She wields a melee weapon called a shuriken which can be used both as close combat or as a ranged weapon. Speaking of gameplay, Yuffie controls very different from Cloud which I found to be more enjoyable as well. Her personality gets well represented in her dialogue and gameplay as well. There is also a stark difference in the overall tone of the story since Yuffie herself has a very zestful personality. While some may just cast “Intermission’ as an unimportant expansion, in my opinion, it plays a far important role in the overall story.Īs for Yuffie, we do get to see more of her entertaining characteristics. The DLC does explore some plots that will most definitely be explored in the second part of FF7 Remake. While Yuffie may not have been an integral part of the main story. Yuffie, who is an optional party member in the base game, is the centrepiece for the plot of the DLC. The Intermission DLC also takes place at the midpoint of the base game’s story. Since I was already spoiled by the faster gameplay in 60 FPS, I instantly changed it back to performance mode. ![]() While the game does look beautiful with higher-resolution details in quality mode, I wasn’t pleased playing it in 30 FPS. However, if you prefer higher graphics quality, you can always run the game in quality mode which renders everything in 4K. I preferred playing the highly action-packed game in 60FPS as I like the gameplay to be as smooth as possible. Currently, the two chapters are exclusively available only for PlayStation 5 players and if you do own the console, I highly recommend checking it out.Īs mentioned before, the game does offer visual upgrades for the DLC content as well, meaning you can play ‘Intermission’ at both 60FPS or 4K 30FPS as well. Having said that, the two chapters that you get to play in the DLC has been presented with the same production value as the main game. ![]() Her move sets are very different from Cloud’s and experience a story that is separate from the main plot of FF 7 Remake. When you fire up the Intermission DLC, you will instantly notice that Yuffie doesn’t handle the same way as 'Cloud'. While the main game follows the journey of Cloud and the AVALANCHE crew, in the DLC you take control of Yuffie, a ninja side character from the main game. The new DLC expansion comes included in the PS5 version of the game if you never bought the previous game for the PlayStation 4. While the new upgrades are a good enough reason to get back into the game, you also get access to a story expansion called “Intermission” that can be bought separately. There’s also an option to play the game in 4K 30 FPS mode as well. Loading times on the upgraded version are vastly faster than the PS4 version and you can play the game on 60fps performance mode as well. If you own a PlayStation 5 and a copy of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, you can already enjoy the updated graphics for free barring the PS+ version. It was certainly on the top of every gaming list last year and it seems like Square Enix wants to give fans more content with an additional story. Final Fantasy 7 Remake in my opinion was one of the greatest RPGs ever made.
